TimeTech, GmbH, (private limited liability company) was founded in 1990 as a spinoff of the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Navigation under Professor Hartl. From 1990 to 2000, the company was located in the Stuttgart Technology Center, and is now situated in the Stuttgart Engineering Park.

The primary customers for the satellite orbit determination measurement instruments produced by TimeTech are satellite operators, like the Societé Européenne des Satéllites, (SES in Luxembourg, operators of the ASTRA Satellites), Telenor and the Indian Space Research Organisation. SES have used TimeTech’s instruments in operation for more than 15 years for the highly precise positioning of the ASTRA Satellites.
TimeTech has also engineered and supplied the instruments for precision time and frequency transfer for comparison of atomic clocks using intercontinental links by national time laboratories in the USA, Europe and Asia.
TimeTech is currently engaged in technology projects such as ACES: Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space, both in the flight and ground segments, and has supplied atomic clock based Frequency and Time Systems (F&T) to the Deep Space Network Stations of the European Space Agency (ESA).
